If you are just starting out these are the things that you need to know about. Every Master Contractor requires and does things a little differently, so make sure that you read your work orders carefully. Make sure to ask questions if you are not sure what you are needing to do. This video will help you to know what to do. Some of the companies want you to put in bids before you do the clean up inside and yard clean up of the property. Find out for sure what they expect form you before you start the work. It could end up costing you a lot of money if you do not. Some Master Contractor companies offer training before you even start work for them, some do not. The one in this video does.
All of the Master Contractor companies require you to take a test before you even start to see what you know. If you do not pass the test you will not work for them. They want to know that you know what HUD expects and how to do the work that they expect, lock changes, winterizations, and other things. There are some places on line that help you know what to expect on these tests and how to do the work. Choose wisely, some are just after your money. Good luck to you if you are just starting out. In another post on this blog I have talked about the insurance that you need to have to work for these Master Contractors, banks, and REO real estate agents ( click the link to see that blog post for insurance).
