The best way to start is to go to the HUD, Fannie May, Freddie Mac websites. Look for the Maximum allowable chart. This is the top dollar that they will pay for a service. This gives you a place to start. You know that the banks do not often go over these amounts.
Use this as a guideline to your bids. It is a place to start when you are learning to do bids. Do not bid so low that you do not make any money. That will not help you stay in business.
Get prices on the materials that you need to get and add a percentage to that so that you can make some money. Do not forget the cost of gas, add it in as well.
An example might be:
Materials cost: $100.
Gas cost: $30.00
Time and labor: $80.00
Fee: $40.00
Total: $250.00
Write the bid up like this:
Materials: $ 130.00
Time and labor: $120.00
Total: $250.00
All the best to you.
